Despite the melodramatic sounding title, this book tells the humor-laden story of four boys; three of whom must rescue the other from a boot camp, which he is sent to by his vindictive parents The task of busting Nathan out of boot camp proves to be a lot harder than the boys expect. Not only is there the problem of extricating their friend from the privately run facility for delinquent youth, but even if they succeed, what do they do once Nathan is free? The bigger question, however, is why Nathan was sent to boot camp in the first place. He did a good thing in the eyes of many, yet his actions embarrass his parents. Nathan's parents disapprove of their son's behavior and since they have the power, they decide to take measures to reform him in order to put him back on the path of the righteous. Nathan, Sam, Dustin, and Harrison pick up from where they left off in The Fake News. They have become internet celebrities due to their past exploits, but Nathan, rather than enjoying this newly achieved status, is punished. Will the boys be able to save Nathan from the boot camp and his vindictive parents? Why aren't there laws to protect Nathan from the abuse perpetrated by his parents? Is it possible to overcome the power of those who benefit from the prison-industrial complex?
Two things are true about most kids: They don't like going to school and they'd rather eat candy than vegetables So, presented with the choice of being bossed around by parents and teachers or running away to work in a candy factory, it stands to reason that many kids would choose to run away. The children of the Nordtz family are presented with this basic dilemma when their father is transferred to a new job in a new town that happens to have the world famous Willie Wanker Candy Factory located in the middle of it Evil Willie is the owner of a huge candy factory. He relies on child labor to produce his sweet confections. It is not difficult for him to attract more workers to run his factory and although he treats them well at first, he becomes more exploitative once new workers settle in. Although you might expect a candy-maker to treat children kindly, Evil Willie is more of a demanding dictator than a benevolent mentor of the children that work for him. Once Nordtz discovers that his children are missing, he does everything he can to find them. He calls the local police, but they aren't very helpful. He searches the streets of his new town. His wife contacts friends from their old neighborhood. How long will it take Nordtz to figure out that his children have run away to work at the candy factory? Will he be able to rescue his children from Evil Willie?
Nathan and Dustin are two boys who live in Las Vegas. They meet Sam and Harrison on the Internet. Since it is summer vacation and the boys all share a common interest in posting videos to a popular video sharing website, Sam and Harrison fly to Las Vegas to join forces with Nathan and Dustin so they can create some ass-kicking videos. The boys wish to emulate their hero Price Dansen, a popular, high-profile, sensational pseudo-journalist who is the star of their favorite show: "To Bust a Pervert." They dream of fame and strive to create exciting videos that attract the attention of the online audience. A relatively unknown serious journalist by the name of Riley Jaeger arrives in Las Vegas to cover a big news event involving a confrontation between pet enthusiasts and child safety advocates. When Riley hears that Price Dansen is in town he sets out to expose Price as a fraud. Could the boys' hero really be a fraud? Will the boys achieve online video fame while maintaining their integrity? Or will they devolve into Price Dansen clones eager to do anything to gain public attention?
Kurt and Kyle are two boys who get stuck going to Bible Camp during their summer vacation. At first it is merely annoying to have to listen to the rants of crazy religious leaders. Why couldn't they just go to a basketball camp like normal kids their age? The boys realize that things are going off the deep end when the leaders of the camp start speaking in tongues. But this is only the beginning of Kurt's and Kyle's adventures in religious loony land. The leader of the camp, known as Pam to the campers, has ambitions of expanding the camp so that she can better serve the Lord. The trouble is that she believes that the Lord wants her to resort to drastic means to attain this goal. She says that there is a spiritual war going on and during times of war drastic measures are required. Local law enforcement buys into Pam's scheme and the boys find themselves in quite a predicament when they discover that Pam and her henchman, Pastor Pete, are quite willing to frame an innocent man in order to achieve their ambitions. Will Kurt and Kyle be able to stop Pam's plan or will they become casualties of her deluded aspirations? Evil is never done so thoroughly as when it is done with a clear conscience. Pam is completely convinced that she is just doing the Lord's will
Pastor John Wilson has quite an agenda set for the small desert town of Liberty. He hopes to assert his influence on the local public school district. He desires to change the way a local tradition, the Goat-Roping Contest, is celebrated. He also wants to keep the local desert safe from terrorists in search of uranium and so he organizes parishioners to keep a vigilant watch for suspicious activity. The good pastor's ambitions could impact the lives of even those outside of his flock if he has his way. Patrick, James, and Sawyer are boys who live in Liberty. Patrick was sent to live with his uncle, who is a teacher in Liberty, because he got into too much trouble in the city and was too much for his mother to handle. Almost immediately he and a classmate, James, find themselves in a lot of trouble with their teacher and with the school counselor, who just happens to be a member of Pastor Wilson's church. Sawyer's mother recently joined Pastor Wilson's congregation and he is anxious that her recently acquired religious fervor could spell the end of all the fun in his life. Contest, but they fear that Pastor Wilson might keep them from enjoying the event. Will Pastor Wilson win this small town culture war or will the boys be able to enjoy all that Liberty has to offer? Join friends Sawyer, James, and Patrick, along with several other friends, as they live through and are impacted by this political battle quietly unfolding around them.
What do you do when you find out that a number of school officials and the entire sheriff's department are running a drug lab in a nearby abandoned mine? If you're a kid living in a small desert town, there's not much you can do besides disrupt class and play silly pranks. But if you happen to get a little inside information, the odds can tip in your favor. Robbie has heard all of the wild stories and the warnings to stay away from the Black Turtle Mine, but he has to investigate the mine for himself. After happening upon what looks like a drug-manufacturing operation, Robbie's life is completely disrupted. He is framed for bringing methamphetamines to school and thrown into a juvenile detention center, and his mother is accused of being unfit. With the school principal and counselor in league with the sheriff and his deputies in a drug ring, the chances of Robbie getting fair and unbiased treatment seem pretty unlikely. Schoolmates Sawyer, Dylan, and James, along with their science teacher, Keith, join forces on a dangerous quest to free James's wrongfully incarcerated cousin Robbie and bring the criminals to justice.
